For games like Mass Effect 3, it’s very hard for a game to live up to its Predecessor when the game before it was so amazing, so that raises the question, is Mass Effect 3 better than Mass Effect 2? Read the review and find out.
Let’s start off with the most important thing, Gameplay. To me, ME3 improved on this. The Customization is better and there’s a larger weapon variety than there was in Mass effect 1 or 2. The controls are pretty good, although I felt like the a-Button had way too many commands (Running, going into cover, using items, etc.) Like they could’ve just taken out the worthless melee button and put a few commands there. Also, the AI is incredibly stupid. Sometimes you could just shoot the enemy to death without them reacting. Also, the Glitches are back, they don’t mess up the game too much, but still they can screw you over every now and then. Mass Effect 3 is the first game in the series to feature Online Multiplayer, which is fun for a while, but it gets repetitive fast. Also, I’m not totally sure if it belongs in a Mass Effect game.
Next up, the story: Basically what happens is that Shepard gets grounded for some reason, but then the reapers come and everyone goes from “Ah yes, Reapers.” To “Oh crap Reapers!”, so they send Shepard to go save the world. The story is pretty well written although some things just didn’t make sense and made some of your choices from previous games seem like they didn’t matter. Also Mass Effect 3 feels more like an action game than a RPG. Sometimes if you press a Paragon/Renegade Option, it doesn’t change anything, it’s just there to give you 5 points. There’s also the ending, which is meh. It’s not bad, but it isn’t good. On the bright side it’s good to see some old faces again and the voice acting in Mass Effect 3 is great.
Besides its small flaws, Mass Effect 3 is still a great game and defiantly worth a purchase.
